Why StartRight exists

Every contractor looked good online. That was the problem.

StartRight began when the owner needed work done and could not figure out who the best contractor was for the project. Everyone had reviews. Everyone had photos. Everyone said the right things. But none of that answered the question that mattered most.

The origin

The hard part was not finding contractors. It was choosing with confidence.

The search looked easy.

There were plenty of names, websites, photos, and five-star reviews. At first, it seemed like the answer should be obvious.

The decision was not.

The owner still could not tell who was right for the actual project, budget, timeline, location, and expectations.

That became the idea.

StartRight was built around a better question: not just who looks good online, but who fits this job.

The belief

A contractor can be great and still be wrong for your project.

More names are not the same as better help.Reviews are useful, but they are not the whole decision.A good contractor for someone else can be wrong for your project. The homeowner should approve an introduction before contact information is shared.

How StartRight thinks about fit

We look past the profile and into the project.

Reviews, licenses, and insurance matter. They are just not enough by themselves. A useful recommendation has to account for the work, the homeowner, the location, the timeline, and the kind of contractor who can realistically serve that request well.

How we make money

Free for homeowners, with a recommendation system built around fit.

StartRight works with contractor partners in our network. Those partners may compensate StartRight after approved introductions. But the way the process is set up matters: the homeowner brief comes first, and the recommendation is based on which contractor fits that project.
